I love love LOVE little date days with my husband. They are probably my most cherished moments with him. This past Saturday was one such day. We decided to get away for the middle of the day and ferry over to a cute little Island in the Puget Sound called Bainbridge Island.
We caught the 10:30 ferry and drove our car on. The weather was crisp and sunny with just a few puffy clouds floating in the sky. Literally, the perfect fall day.

Does anyone else have a hard time getting a decent photo of their husband? Mine seems to think the sillier the face the better. From left to right i call it, "constipated, tongue, and goober".
I digress.
We immediately parked our car at the end of the very small town and decided to walk around until we found breakfast and just as we were doing so we stumbled upon this community garden.
It was seriously the most adorable garden space I've ever laid my eyes on and I vowed that if I could I would dig the whole thing up and replant it in my back yard.
This compost pile was pretty impressive to me. NOT only because its such an awesome effort at composting, but its huge!
The chicken coop impressed Mark. He wants chickens for our own yard and he has been eyeing other coops to study the way they are built with the intention of gleaning some ideas for his own structure. These lovely ladies looked quite peaceful and warm behind their glass window. And the coop was tall enough that I could stand up inside it without hitting my head. Now that's a nice coop!
I found other pretty things to photograph with my iPhone.
A testament to how beautiful the sky was that day! Rare for October 'round these parts.
I instantly fell in LOVE with this potting bench. The richness of the wood and the soft pine bark underneath your feet just made me want to hang out all day grooming plants.
This garden was even complete with a bee hive! And they were very peaceful too.
Seriously. How adorable is this garden?!
Mark pried me away eventually and we moseyed on down the street to a little breakfast nook where I had some chorizo breakfast tacos (minus the egg) and seasoned potatoes. And then we wrapped up the afternoon shopping our hearts out, talking about everything under the sun, and eventually popping into a little pub for a beer and appetizer plate to share.
Have you had any incredible dates lately?
Tell me about your favorite one!
XOXO!
