Our 2nd Anniversary

I'm a month late with this post as our anniversary was on July 30th. But I wanted to post pictures of our little getaway because I enjoy looking back through my own posts to remember our journey together. And I enjoy sharing them with other people too, so it's a win-win!

We decided to do an overnight backpacking trip. I've never backpacked over night before so this was a first for me. Carrying a large pack was a first too.

We settled on a shorter hiking trail about an hour outside of Seattle--Olallie and Pratt Lake Trail. It was the perfect first time backpacking trip for me. My pack was about 35 pounds and the incline was moderate. I could feel that my heart rate was up but the journey wasn't grueling.

We hiked in past the first lake and decided to break camp off the trail near some flatter land, a rare find on a side of a mountain.

I packed us some Adelle's sausages to roast, buns, ketchup, and fresh sugar snap peas to keep our bellies full. Breakfast was oatmeal and coffee. Nothing too special, but I couldn't resist a s'more with dinner and another s'more after breakfast.

I  also learned the the hard way about the importance of pitching a tent on the flattest ground possible. I won't be making THAT mistake again.

But seriously, Mark and I love the outdoors and we really don't need a fancy suite and room service to enjoy spending time together.

Hiking and chatting and poking a fire was a perfect getaway.

And it helps that we had this incredible backdrop to wake up to. Seriously incredible. I love mountain lakes.

We hiked back down the trail three miles to our car and made it back to Seattle just in time for some of our favorite Happy Hour Pizza.
My belly was happy and my spirit was full!

Happy Labor Day, everyone!
XOXO!
